All pupils in Key Stage 2 learn Spanish. By the end of the Key Stage, pupils will be expected to listen to and engage in short conversations, making themselves understood. They will develop pronunciation and present their own opinions, ideas and information using the spoken language. They will read sentences and short texts then show their understanding. Pupils will write short sentences adapting the language they know to describe people, places and things, showing an understanding of basic grammar. Pupils use a wide variety of resources to support their language learning, for example target language story books and video clips, online software packages and bilingual dictionaries.
