Hello and welcome to Year 4!
We are really excited to be able to welcome your child to life in Year 4. From Romans to Rivers, electricity to computing, we have an inspiring, fun packed year ahead of us. On top of this, we have some incredible adventures to embark upon during our year together, experiencing a Roman Day, rainforest creatures, baking hot cross buns and a residential stay at Conkers are just a few.
It is a pleasure to be able to teach and work with your child and we are eager to watch them grow and develop as they progress through the year. As a team, we are always here for you and your child. If you need to discuss anything, please speak to us at the end of the day or contact us to make an appointment via the school office or via email
Key information about your class:
Homework is set on Mondays and due in on Thursdays (class 10) or Fridays (class 9) – alternating Maths and English each week. Occasionally your child may be asked to complete an extra piece such as a project.
Your child will have an individual reading book and diary which needs to be brought into class daily. As part of their homework, they need to read a little each night to an adult (approximately 8 pages/a chapter). Please encourage your child to talk about what they’re reading to develop comprehension alongside fluency.
Spellings are also set weekly in ability groups on Mondays. They are tested the following Monday. Please support your child to learn the spelling patterns, rules and the meaning of the words.
Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day as learning is thirsty work!
